This past week, the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk has left entire communities in shock and devastation. The pain is raw, the grief overwhelming, and the ripple of heartbreak is being felt far beyond those who knew him personally. When something so senseless and violent happens, we are forced to pause and confront the fragility of life, the weight of loss, and the question that echoes in every heart: Where do we turn now?
For me, the answer circles back to God, to Jesus, to the strength that comes from walking in faith. Yet I also know that for many, the search for peace takes the shape of universal energy, divine presence, or simply a deeper connection with spirit. However we name it, this tragedy reminds us of something essential: we need a higher power. We cannot carry the chaos of this world on our own.
A Divide That Cuts Deep
In the aftermath, something else has been revealed, a darkness that is hard to comprehend. There has been a shocking divide between those who loved Charlie’s message and those who opposed it. Some have gone so far as to say that he “got what he deserved.” Others have labeled it “the Charlie Effect,” twisting a man’s death into rhetoric. What is even more difficult to face is that these words have not only come from strangers online but from friends, neighbors, even family members, people we thought we knew.
What is even more difficult to face is that these words have not only come from strangers online but from friends, neighbors, even family members people we thought we knew.
To see people celebrate the murder of a church-going, dedicated father and activist is to stare directly into the depths of human brokenness. It shakes us, not just because of the loss itself, but because it reveals how far hearts can drift from compassion, how easy it has become to dehumanize one another. For many, this has opened wounds of confusion, grief, and fear.
And it is not just this event. We are surrounded by reports of mass shootings, wars, and atrocities that flood our daily lives. The heaviness is becoming unbearable to breathe for many. We are not only grieving lives lost we are grieving the unraveling of humanity, the loss of empathy, and the fracture of community.

The Importance of Belief, Faith, and Community
This is why faith matters. A belief system whether grounded in God, scripture, or the universal truths of spirit offers us an anchor when the world tilts toward chaos. Faith does not erase the suffering, but it transforms how we walk through it. It allows us to hold grief in one hand and hope in the other.
Community becomes our shelter. It is in gathering together in prayer, meditation, reflection, and acts of kindness that we discover resilience we cannot summon alone. Solidarity is more than standing side by side. It is refusing to let darkness divide us. It is remembering that every life carries value, and that compassion must rise above ideology.
Steps to Reconnect Spiritually and Holistically
In moments like these, we are invited to realign ourselves, to draw nearer to what truly matters. Here are some ways we can begin:
Return to Prayer and Stillness: Whether through prayer to God, meditation, or mindful reflection, carve out space each day to connect with the sacred. Let silence be your sanctuary.
Seek Wisdom in Sacred Teachings: Open the Bible, sit with scripture, or explore sacred texts and writings from traditions across the world. Truth and light are not confined; they flow through many streams.
Reconnect with Nature: Walk slowly among trees, sit by water, or breathe deeply under the sky. Creation itself is a sacred teacher, reminding us that life is cyclical, and healing is always possible.
Build Authentic Community: Go beyond the screen. Gather face-to-face. Share meals, hold hands, pray together, meditate in groups, or simply sit with one another. Healing happens in togetherness.
Practice Compassion as a Daily Devotion: Every act of kindness is a thread of light in a darkened world. Speak gently, listen deeply, give freely. These are prayers made visible.
Discern Your Media Diet: Step away from the noise when it drains your spirit. Choose instead what uplifts, inspires, and aligns you with truth.
Honor Grief While Choosing Hope: Let yourself feel the weight of sorrow, but do not stop there. Healing is not erasing pain; it is transforming it into purpose, into love, into action.
Moving Forward Together
The loss of Charlie Kirk is a wound we will carry. But in that wound lies a call: to return to faith, to deepen our connection with the divine, and to rebuild the bonds of community and humanity that sustain us.
For me, it is God and Jesus who hold me steady, who remind me that even in the valley of shadows, there is light ahead. For others, it may be universal energy, spirit, or higher powers that guide. What matters most is that we do not walk this road alone. We need each other. We need faith. We need love.
Now is the time to return to God, to spirit, to truth, to one another. Because when we stand in solidarity, when we live with compassion, when we honor both our pain and our faith, we find not only the strength to endure tragedy but the courage to transform it into a seed of hope. Deanna
